All in the Family

When I was crowned Miss Cape Shores in July, I was adopted into a family. A family we like to call the "Shore Girls." The old African proverb states "It takes a village to raise a child," and I find this quote to be quite fitting for this situation. Throughout my year of service, I will be blessed with a supportive group of sisters and directors who will not only push me to my full potential, but cheer me on regardless of trial or triumph. In August, we welcomed three new teens -Yulemni, Mackenzie, and Alyssa, and also three new misses - Brenna, Carissa, and Anna, so now the shore clan is complete! Be prepared for an overload of Shore Girl photos, we can't help but share our love for one another. One of my favorite perks of being a Shore Girl is having my own Cape Shore crew -Amy, Ashley, Ashley, and Emily- whom I love dearly. Before I left for school I met my Little Miss Cape Shores Emily and her mom for brunch to share preliminary ideas for events, fundraisers, and other exciting adventures for our year together. My favorite part of being a local titleholder is the mentoring opportunities that come along with the crown. My goal is to be the best role model possible for these girls and just knowing they look up to me makes me strive to exceed all expectations. I cannot thank them enough for that.
In other pageant related news, congratulations are in order. Over labor day weekend, the beautiful Jachele Velez(former Miss Cape Shores & current Miss DC's Sweetheart) and the talented Kaitlyn Schoeffel(Miss Seashore Line and Miss NJ's Sweetheart) both had a fantastic showing at the Sweetheart Pageant in Hoopeston, Illinois. I admittedly tried my best to stalk the internet for any photos or updates on their time there and I beamed with pride every time I got word of their successful endeavors. Also, this past weekend two new crownheads were added to the Miss New Jersey Class of 2013 - Miss Avalon, Fiona Digennaro, and Miss Island Resort, Cara McCollum. I am eager to personally welcome them to the family and wish them the utmost success in their year of service! Before I know it all the lovely ladies will be crowned and the pageant will be right around the corner (yikes!)
